A gift of property is the voluntary transfer of property from one person (the donor or donor) to another person (the donee or beneficiary) without full consideration. The late Pope John Paul II called this idea “the law of giving.” A simple idea, but not easy. This is what Wojtyla calls the “law of ecstasy” or the law of self-giving: “The lover `goes out of himself` to find a more fulfilling existence in another.” From a Christian perspective, however, life is not about “doing what I want.” It`s about my relationships, about fulfilling my relationship with God and with the people God has put into my life. In fact, here we find fulfillment in life: by living our relationships well. But to live our relationships well, we often have to make sacrifices and give up our own will to serve the good of others. Therefore, we discover a deeper happiness in life when we give ourselves in this way, because we live as God created us, and this is how God himself lives: in total love, in self-giving, committed. As one of Wojtyla`s favorite lines of the Second Vatican Council says: “Man finds himself only if he makes a sincere gift to others” (Gaudium et Spes, 24). Giving is a kind of sacrifice that is not a struggle. If the gift is love, it “passes” because it spreads from one family member to another and from there goes out to the rest of the world! There is no limit to the amount that can be given to nonprofits, but there are limits to the amount of these donations that are tax deductible. Once the standard deduction is increased with the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, the vast majority of taxpayers who stop registering will not receive additional deductions for charitable donations.

The more we truly give of ourselves, the more we truly become ourselves. It is one of the joys of our faith that when we work hard to serve a parish community, no matter what apostolate work we do, we receive much more than we have given. In an age of strong individualism, however, this deep point of Wojtyla can be difficult to comprehend. Why should I go out of myself to find happiness? Why would I want to commit to someone else in this radical way? Why would I want to give up the freedom to do what I want with my life? These are the questions of modern man.
According to Wojtyla, there are two aspects to loving, and understanding the difference is crucial for any marriage, engagement or romantic relationship.
